Families Harmed By Fentanyl Crisis Encouraged By Biden-Harris Drug Policy Priorities

Father Who Lost Son to Fentanyl Poisoning Responds to Biden Administration

Akron, OH - On Thursday, President Biden's Administration released the Biden - Harris statement of Drug Policy Priorities for Year One. In response, Families Against Fentanyl founder Jim Rauh whose son was killed by fentanyl poisoning, released the following statement:

“We are encouraged to see the Biden Administration set forward aggressive policy priorities to address the fentanyl crisis. The Biden Administration has laid out a serious, interagency approach to reduce harm, save lives and disrupt the transnational drug trafficking and money laundering organizations that are poisoning thousands of Americans. Families Against Fentanyl is looking forward to working with the Biden Administration to support and pass policies to reduce the threat illicit fentanyl poses to American lives both in our drug supply and as a weapon of mass destruction," said Rauh.

Previously, Rauh has urged Biden to address the fentanyl crisis and applauded Biden's position that "drug users need rehab, not jail."

Families Against Fentanyl Founder Jim Rauh is a chemical engineer from Akron, Ohio who formed Families Against Fentanyl (FAF) after his son, Tom, died by fentanyl poisoning (which he unknowingly ingested). Families Against Fentanyl has brought together thousands of families with policy makers, researchers, and state and federal leaders. FAF advocates for harm reduction measures including advocating for illegal fentanyl and its analogs to be named a Weapon of Mass Destruction and has launched a petition that has amassed nearly 10,000 signatures. Rauh has been a strong proponent of harm reduction measures, partnering with pioneering public health groups in the US and Canada to support harm reduction programs and sponsoring fentanyl test strip initiatives.

The current drug crisis has shown that fentanyl, in the hands of foreign or domestic terrorists, is capable of creating immense destruction in every community across the country. Rauh has been determined to hold the foreign chemical manufacturers responsible and as 60 Minutes documented, he spent years pursuing justice and is currently suing the Zheng family syndicate, who are responsible for thousands of deaths.
